Is Twitter Right For Your Business?

According to Compete Inc., who studies the online behaviors of consumers, Twitter has grown more than 1,200% in the past year, and recorded 14 million members in March. Despite its success Twitter is not for everyone. Following are the Top Five Reasons Why Twitter May Not Be Right For Your Business:

1. It’s a communication platform, not a social media strategy. It works only if you have a well-known identity. Followers must be willing to use the application as a way to communicate with your business.

2. Lawful consent is mandatory. As we all know, messages coming from senior executives need legal approval. Usually this process can take anywhere between 4-5 hours to a day or two. If a time frame is required for your postings, Twitter might be the wrong approach to reach your customers.

3. Authenticity is fundamental. If someone else is tweeting for you, Twitter must be notified. Ghostwriters don’t really work on Twitter.

4.Tracking web analytics can be complex. You need more than one tracking tool to obtain true measurements. Google Analytics won’t do the job by itself.

5. First, review your company’s reputation. Track how customers see your brand, your services, and your industry. Then make the decision to jump in and become part of the community.
